The Hero of the Russian Federation, Guard Senior Lieutenant Dmitry Vorobyov spoke to students of Ural State University about the generation bridge, love for homeland and his attitude to new reforms in the Russian economy. The meeting was held as part of the patriotic project "Heroes Are among Us."
The hero told the students a brief story of choosing his way and what it was like to be born into a military family and to become an officer in the fourth generation.
Dmitry Vorobyov received the title of Hero of the Russian Federation for the courage and heroism shown in capturing a strategically important bridge over the Terek River near ??Chervlennaya-Uzlovaya village, Shelkovsky District, in the North Caucasus region of the Chechen Republic. In October 1999, Vorobyov’s group, consisting of his platoon and an ABF unit, joined a heavy fight, which lasted almost a day. Several attacks were repelled.
